8 alphanumeric characters. England and Wales: 8 digits zero-padded (e.g. 00000006). Scotland: SC + 6 digits (e.g. SC123456). Northern Ireland: NI + 6 digits. LLPs: OC + 6 digits. Short forms like '6' are auto-padded.

Known quirks

other info — Most complete adapter in openregistry. Every UnifiedCompanyProfile field plus officers, PSCs, charges, filings list, financial statements, officer_appointments (cross-company), search_officers, get_document_metadata, and fetch_document are all implemented.
id_format info — 8-character company number: 8 digits zero-padded for England/Wales (e.g. 00000006), SC+6 digits for Scotland, NI+6 for Northern Ireland, OC+6 for LLPs. Short forms like '6' are auto-padded to 00000006.
rate_limit warning — Upstream enforces 600 requests per 5 minutes per operator key. A 429 is surfaced to the caller; back off 1–2 minutes.
redaction info — Officer dates of birth are partial (month and year only, day suppressed). Home addresses not surfaced — only correspondence / service addresses.
other info — Identity-verification status is not exposed on the public surface and is therefore not in profile output.
other info — SIC codes follow UK SIC 2007. Codes are returned as raw strings; call get_code_description for human-readable text.
